Southern City News gathered that cult members stormed the police force because of the arrest of a member who allegedly tried to escape police detention.

Sources told our correspondent that police officers were overwhelmed by the policemen during the Monday evening invasion.

“The suspects stormed the OSD command office in four cars with more than 15 members. But the police overpowered them and seven members of the cult were arrested during the incident, “the source said.

Police State Commissioner, Mr Hafiz Inuwa, confirmed the arrest of the seven suspects on Tuesday and added that they confessed to being members of the Vikings brotherhood.

“They invaded the Operation Safe Delta command with the intention of rescuing one of their members, but they were arrested by our agents. Seven of them were arrested, “said Inuwa.

The CP said that despite the confession of the suspects, a human rights activist based in Asaba, Mr. Harrison Gwamnishi, claimed that the suspects were members of the Human Rights Defense Committee.
