Former Nigeria Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), led a prayer rally on Sunday against murders, Boko Haram attacks in the Northeast region and Nigeria in general.
Gowon, who is also the national president of “Nigeria Prays,” spoke at the one-day prayer rally in Bauchi and said the prayer rally was organized to mediate fervently for the country in these difficult times.
The former Head of State regretted the issue of terrorism, insurgents and various types of insecurity that ruled in the Northeast Zone and Nigeria in general.
“Lord, on behalf of Nigerians, we confess unnecessary bloodshed, murders and attacks by the Boko-Haram revolts, bandits and the wave of abductions and all kinds of evil in different parts of Nigeria.
“We beg for your forgiveness, grace and cleansing of our country that faces many challenges.
“All Christian believers and other religions in the country must please pray to God to help solve the problems of Nigeria.
“We pray that the land of Bauchi and the entire northeastern area will receive God’s divine visit and deliverance from rebellion.
“May this war of insecurity end in Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Yobe, Bauchi and indeed throughout the country,” Gowon prayed.
