Kano Blasphemer Held In An Underground Prison With No Access To Lawyer And Family Members

Nigerian’s print and social media were flooded yesterday with news of a well known Northern musician, Sharif Aminu(22) who was sentenced to death by hanging.

According to a report obtained by our reporters, Sharif was sentenced death by a Sharia court situated in the heart of Kano over a blasphemous song he released against Prophet Muhammad.

People who reacted after hearing the incident, had queries the powers of such court as Nigeria is not an Islamic country where Sharia laws are practiced.

Blasphemy is a 14th century Islamic way of punishing those who questioned the preaching of Prophet Muhammad, which ought to have no relevance in today’s world.

The fate of Sharif Aminu still remains unknown as he’s still been help in an underground prison with no access to his laws and family members.

WGE will keep you updated on the story of Sharif Aminu death sentence. Hopefully, he will appeal.
